Worker Safety in Food Service
Working in a safe workplace and knowing how to do your job well and safely will help make your job more enjoyable and less stressful. Every type of job has its own types of common hazards. You need to be ready to protect yourself from these hazards. You can do this by learning about the hazards and how to avoid being injured. Being a safe worker is important to your own success and to the success of your employer.

Who gets hurt more often and why?

Statistics show that new workers get injured a lot during their first year on the job. Some reasons are:

  1. they are not yet familiar with the job, the equipment or the work site;
  2. they are under stress because it is a new job;
  3. they are trying too hard to make good, so they can keep their job;
  4. they may be showing off a little in order to make friends.
